John Howard’s Flagpole

It was back in 2004 and the Prime Minister, John Howard was planning his “Flagpole in every School” education policy.
He realised that he needed to know just how tall each flagpole was so
he could get his department to order the correct amount of aluminium
tubing.
The rest of the Cabinet had left the meeting so he grabbed Tony
Abbott, his Leader of the House who, as usual was asleep in his seat,
and they headed out to the local RSL Club with a tape measure.
They stood at the bottom of the Club flagpole and scratched their
heads. They hadn’t realised it would be so tall and they couldn’t work
out how to get to the top of the flagpole to start measuring it.
They were about to give up when a beautiful, busty blonde walked by,
heading into the Club to begin her shift as a barmaid. She recognised
the two men and, seeing they had a problem, asked what was wrong.
Tony explained that they wanted to measure the height of the flagpole but couldn’t work out how to do it.
The blonde reached into her bag and pulled out a shifting spanner and
undid a couple of bolts on the base of the flagpole. She laid it down
horizontally and measured it. Then she raised it again, redid the bolts
and went in to start her shift.
Tony Abbott turned to his boss and said, “Isn’t that just like a woman. We want the height and she gives us the length!”
